'DREAMWORLD' - 'Nickelodeon Central' - QLD, AUSTRALIA

With their committed policy of continuing park facility upgrades, in 2002 Dreamworld Australia (part of the Omni Group of companies) became involved with the ever popular U.S. based Nickelodeon organisation and their cast of television / cartoon characters to produce "NICKELODEON CENTRAL".

Following several design meetings with Dreamworld, the Nickelodeon representatives and the project builders, Sanderson Group AUSTRALIA was selected to construct all of the major theming items including large signage panels, attraction statements, billboards, large wall murals, ride icons and general ride enhancement theming.

The items were built by the Sanderson Group on the Gold Coast, to Nickelodeon specifications, under the direction of their Design Director, Mr. John Paul Guerts and Dreamworld staff, from electronic images supplied from their U.S.A. headquarters in Florida.

The items were constructed of various materials, from art worked cartoon characters of steel framing and hard coated polystyrene, to entry statement columns with flagpoles which reached 8 metres in height, made from a combination of steel, aluminum and art worked, hard coated polystyrene.

A feature item is the Runaway Raptor a fictionalisation of a dinosaur, which sits atop a crushed steel building and reaches over 8 metres in height. The steel core of the character is encased with a reinforced, hard-coated polystyrene, carved figure & his hands hold a signage panel, both of which are visible throughout the precinct.

Dreamworld and the Nickelodeon organisation are extremely happy with the finished result and it further demonstrates the knowledge and talent of our staff, who along with Nickelodeon and Dreamworld design people, produced a spectacular result for this exciting attraction.
